The second round at the Rogers Cup opened today, with all of the top 16 seeds scheduled to play over today and Wednesday.
Apparently nobody told #4 seed, Andy Murray, that he was playing today. How else could one explain the straight set drubbing he took at the hands of Kevin Anderson, a South African ranked 35th in the ATP standings?
Getting beat 3-6, 1-6 in a tournament you've won the past two years is pretty bad, and he'll need to figure things out next week at the Masters 1000 Tournament in Cincinnati if he's open for a deep run at the US Open.
He wasn't the only one who didn't come ready to play. Giles Simon (9th seed) and Mikhail Youzhny (11th) also were upset in straight sets.
#1 seed Novak Djokovic's match was postponed to Wednesday due to rain.
Other contenders set to play on Wednesday include Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.
