The Los Angeles Dodgers have fired Steve Garvey from his position in the marketing and community relations department after a 30-year relationship. Garvey was a 10-time All-Star and one of the faces of the Dodgers in the 1970's and 80's.
Rumors abound that Garvey was fired because of his public statements regarding wanting to buy the team, as well as criticizing how the team has fallen in recent years.
Garvey has stated several times this past year his desire to form a group to buy the Dodgers from embattled current owner Frank McCourt. The Dodgers are currently in bankruptcy proceedings, and there has been speculation on whether the MLB will step in to force a sale.
