The former quarterback was following a bike lane in the city of Portland when it veered back onto the main road. A car, following closely behind Harrington, ran into the back of his bicycle. Thrown up in the air and landing on the hood of the car, Harrington was thrown to the pavement when the panicked driver hit the brakes.
Harrington suffered a broken clavicle and rib, punctured a lung, and received a nasty gash to his head. He could be released from the hospital, however, as early as Tuesday.
While this accident wasn't life-threatening, his injuries would have been much more severe if he hadn't been wearing his helmet at the time of the accident.
Harrington, who hasn't played in the NFL since 2009, is currently a radio analyst for Fox Sports in Portland. He's been married to his wife, Emily, since 2007. They have one son, Jack, born in 2009.
