Atlanta Braves second-baseman Dan Uggla has just done what only 24 other players in the history of MLB have done: had a hit in 32 consecutive games.
Twenty players were able to accomplish just 30 straight hitting games, while another 10 maxed out with a 31-game hitting streak.
Now Uggla has surpassed the best hitting streaks of players named Albert Pujols, George Brett, Stan Musial, and Tris Speaker. One more hitting game, and he'll tie a guy named Rogers Hornsby.
Uggla now owns the Atlanta Braves record for hitting streaks, surpassing Rico Carty who hit in 31 straight in 1970.
The streak began on July 5, and Uggla has maintained a .362 batting average during this time with 14 home runs (he actually hit two tonight).
