This is the second year in a row that these two have faced each other in this particular final. Last year, Fish overcame Isner 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 to win the ATP 250 event.
Isner defeated Gilles Muller in the semi-finals 7-5, 6-7, 6-1 while Fish dominated young American Ryan Harrison 6-2, 6-4. It was Harrison's first ever semi-final appearance at a senior ATP event.
Fish is looking to redeem himself from his David Cup losses, while Isner has been playing very good tennis as of late. He just recently won the Hall of Fame Tennis Championship in Rhode Island, his second-ever career title.
While Isner is 1-2 in his career against the 9th-ranked Fish, their most recent meeting in Madrid resulted in an Isner win.
If Isner is able to win, he should move up in rankings from his current spot at 35. If he breaks into the top 32, he would earn an automatic seed in the upcoming U.S. Open.
