Harris Poll 2011: Favorite Athletes: Jeter New #1, Lebron and Favre Fall Hard

The 2011 Harris Interactive Poll of Favorite Male Athletes is out, and Kobe Bryant has lost his #1 spot to New  York Yankee Derek Jeter.

No doubt helped by his pursuit of career hit 3,000 this season, Jeter was third last year (his highest position before this year).

Falling out of the top 10 this year were Brett Favre (4th in 2010) and Lebron James (6th).  Favre's last season was a complete disaster, with injuries on the field and a personal scandal that saw many female fans turn their back on him.  James' popularity has seen a free-fall since his ill-advised "Decision" special in which he announced he was signing with the Miami Heat.

Here are the rankings:

  1. Derek Jeter
  2. Peyton Manning
  3. Tie Between Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan
  4. ***
  5. Tiger Woods
  6. Tom Brady
  7. Tie between Albert Pujols and Hines Ward
  8. ***
  9. Derrick Rose
  10. Aaron Rodgers
The Women's rankings had Serena Williams on top again for the third straight year.  Mia Hamm is 5th, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Abby Wambach and Hope Solo in the top five the next time the poll is done.
